Workshop Description
Welcome to Launch_K5 Computer Science (CS), where education takes flight into a realm of innovation and possibilities! Launch_K5 CS is a dynamic 2-day hybrid workshop designed for K-5 educators, crafted to align seamlessly with the new K-5 Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Dive into an engaging experience that integrates computational thinking, computer science, cyber security and AI into core curricula, offering educators a unique opportunity to enhance their teaching approaches. This specific workshop will be held exclusively for 3rd–5th grade educators.
Workshop Details
- Immerse educators in a 2-day hybrid workshop, equipping them with the skills to seamlessly integrate computer science into their teaching practices.
- Align teaching strategies with the latest Technology Applications TEKS, ensuring curriculum is up-to-date and in line with educational standards.
- Explore a comprehensive set of K-5 lessons, including both unplugged and plugged activities, ready for immediate implementation in the classroom.
- Embrace the future of education by learning about block-based coding and physical computing, essential skills for preparing students for the digital age.
Cost: There is no cost associated with this workshop. Lunch will be provided.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will receive a physical computing set to take back to their classrooms. 3rd-5th grade teachers will receive a set of 10 micro:bits.
